An easy, fast, objective test for smell screening.

Our story began in early 2020 when Yale Professor Toomre witnessed the devastating impact of COVID-19 worldwide and the strong link with olfactory dysfunction, known as “loss of smell.” As a scientist, Professor Toomre posed a question: How can we develop a truly quantitative test for olfactory dysfunction? A test that is simple, quick, inexpensive, and can be taken by anyone, anywhere, and repeatedly.

With the collaboration of business partners, we created the necessary device, smartphone applications, and secured multiple global patents. Thanks to our private equity partners, we established worldwide sourcing and manufacturing capabilities. We addressed the crucial need for a test that can be taken repeatedly without cheating, as our patented design ensures efficiency and variability. Scientific validation underpins our work.

The U-Smell-it® test has undergone validation through multiple clinical trials and holds FDA certification as a Class 2 exempt Medical Device.
